Full disclosure, I’m a total space geek. Every single aspect of space and the exploration of it excites me to no end. The idea of going where so few have gone before energizes me. I really wish I could be an astronaut but alas I chose a different path in life.
As I’m sure you can imagine, visiting the Kennedy Space Center was high on my apocalyst. it wasn’t until after I went that I learned of a VIP tour. I hope to blog about that very soon.
The regular Joe experience is awesome too, though. Kennedy Space Centre did not disappoint!
THE EXPERIENCE We drove from Sarasota, FL to Cape Canaveral. The drive is nice and scenic and I recommend driving through Florida at least once in your life. Upon arrival, we were met by waves of people. Buy advance tickets! We got into the campus in about 15 minutes. People that paid upon arrival waited well over an hour.
Once in the park, you have a map and you can go through whatever experiences you want. There’s museums, interactive experiences, and full-blown tours of actual in-use, space engineering buildings. Can you hear the excitement in my words? 🤓
Each building has working live environments and exhibits; many interactive. After checking out as many of the attractions as we could, it was time for lunch with an astronaut! That’s right, mofo’s … we got to meet someone that had been to space! Robert Springer is his name and spacewalking is his main game.
This is one of those blogs where I’m going to let the pictures and video do the talking because if I’m being totally honest, the whole thing is one giant blur of geekgasm and all I remember was being very excited to be there. So without further ado, may I present to you Kennedy Space Center!
