Why do you go on a tropical getaway? Chances are your number one answer will be to get away from it all and relax. Okay, maybe some of you just go for the open bar, but if you’re like me the number one item on your list is relaxation.
An ex and I stayed at Barceló Gran Faro in Los Cabos for a week and it was spectacular. I’m hoping to do a full travel blog on this resort in the future, but for now, I’m entering oceanview massages into the calm experience category.
THE EXPERIENCE Krystal (the ex) and I had walked past the massage huts several times over the first few days while at the resort. We kept saying, “We need to do that.” Finally, we did. There are options to get massages indoors at the spa but it’s Mexico baby!
We went to the spa and ordered our massages, which came with jacuzzi treatment afterwards, along with refreshments and food. They really do know how to make you feel like a king and queen at these places. Once we paid the completely reasonable $99 USD, we were given robes and time to change. Our masseurs took us for a walk from the spa to the huts, where we undressed and laid down on the fresh linens.
I could not believe how quickly I melted into a puddle. It took mere moments! The combination of the relaxation massage, ocean waves, tropical air, and general ambiance swept me away. In fact, I dare say I’ve never been more relaxed, which is saying something considering I was quite ill for the entire trip.
The 60-minute massage was a real treat. I felt light the entire rest of the trip and I will go out on the limb in saying it helped me feel a bit better too.
After, we hit the jacuzzis (male and female separated) and then continued on with our vacation.
FINAL NOTES This is a premium service, so not included in the Barceló all-inclusive package. I’d say, just do it though. This was a very remarkable way to spend a couple of hours in between the pool, ocean, beach, endless food and drinks, and the entertainment. Even if you’re not a big fan of getting massages (I wasn’t for many years) I highly recommend the experience, especially if you’re on a couples vacation.
