In my previous blog, I spoke about how to pack light. I didn’t mention anything about toiletries in that post, and for good reason. Repeat after me: There is no good reason to pack toiletries unless you are going to a destination that doesn’t have any. From what I can tell, about 95% of travel destinations have toiletries available at some point so let’s just assume you’re going to one of the majority of destinations.
When I consider how much a trip will cost, the first expense I consider is $50 for toiletries, and guess what? I always have change in the end.
THE TOILETRIES LIST
Again, we will assume you are going on a trip for 10-days or less. Let me break down the list for you:
Shampoo & Conditioner (if you’re freaky and have hair)
Some sorta scent (not needed)
Personal items such as condoms, tampons, etc.
Gauze & Tape
Now, granted I never need shampoo or conditioner since I’m bald and beautiful but I have never actually spent more than $40 on these items. In places like Vegas where you can go to cheap general stores, I’ve gotten away with purchasing everything for under $20!
Occasionally, if I’m feeling particularly thrifty, I’ll bring some of the items home and use them up, but for the most part I just leave them behind. I’m telling you, $50 will save you headaches:
No taking bulky items from home.
No banned items in your suitcase.
No forgetting items you need back at home in the hotel washroom.
It seems like a small contribution to your mental health but it’s saved me time, money, space, and even introduced me to new products that have replaced what I use at home. Now, you just need to get past the whole, “I need to be perfect” mindset of your trip and settle into, “I wanna be clean and happy”!
Hope this helps! Let me know in the comments if you agree or disagree with my trick.
