Who Really Has the Cheapest Flights?

It’s considered one of the greatest debates of our time! Who has the cheapest flights? Your uncle Jim says Expedia. Your aunt Jane says Google. Your cousin Johnny says the airline sites You? Well you might feel that Kayak gets the deals. But, who amongst you is right?

Unfortunately, there is no dependable answer 100% of the time, however over the last month I’ve looked up flights to various destinations on the Google page one ranked sites and have found that in over 80% of cases the results are consistent.

Here’s the list of sites I did my research on:

For the purposes of this example, we’re going to use flights from my hometown of Winnipeg (hella expensive) to LA for 1 traveller with no regard for direct flights. Here are the screen capped results.

So, there you have it. Expedia is still the cheapest! Of course, this isn’t a rule by any means but notice the smaller sites all have the same price point. That was a trend over the last month of research for any destination. In about 10% of the cases FlightHub was cheaper by a few bucks. It’s important to note that if you package hotel and flights together on Expedia you can get flights a bit cheaper too.

Have a site you use that’s not on the list? Share it in the comments.
